First Presbyterian Church will be sponsoring a blood drive with Versiti on August 19 from 12:30 to 5:30 PM.

You can register online here (must go into the post to click on “here”) or by using the QR code on the flyer.

Did you know donated red blood cells, which carry the oxygen through your body, can only be stored for up to 42 days? Platelets, which help you blood clot, must be used very quickly because they typically expire within 5 to 7 days. Plasma, the liquid portion of your blood, can be frozen and stored for up to one year. Keeping in mind, you can only donate blood every 56 days, you can see how the blood supply runs short very quickly. Keeping this supply up to meet the needs of patients truly depends on each of us. Cancer patients frequently need red blood cells and platelets to replenish what chemotherapy has destroyed.

For the past couple of months, there have been many ads on television and posts on social media that say there is a crisis-level blood shortage! Please consider donating on August 19. If you are not available on August 19, please consider donating at another site to ease this crisis-level shortage. God bless you all!

All attempting donors will receive a $50 Wilderness Resort coupon. Plus, donors who schedule their next appointment during their visit will be entered into a sweepstakes for a chance to win a free stay at Wilderness Resort.
